Thanksgiving Turkey Musings

I'm very thankful this year, for a few things. Of course I'm sad I won't get to see my family this holiday, and partake in the warmth of family love. But I do have a life in California, one I'm very proud of, and I give thanks for the independence and ability to live it. Here's a list of things I am thankful for:
My family, living well and living in so many fantastic places. I always have someone to visit.
My friends, who have become my family while I dwell in SoCal.
My job, which gives me the means to travel to see my family and spend time loving my friends.
My youth, which reminds me I have many good years ahead of me God willing, and time still to explore the world.
My maturity, which I have earned through 25 years of experiences and education, hard work and heartbreak, love won and love lost, things earned and gained. It can not be taken away.
My humor, for which I use to battle sadness every day.
My taste, in music, food, people, and places.
California, which has bestowed so many gifts upon me just by being ideally geographically located.
My apartment, which is charming, cozy, and open to anyone to visit, drink wine with me, listen to music, watch movies, and loaf.
My neighbors, for being the best neighbors a girl could want.
My faith, which should be first on this list, because God is above all things and gives me everything I have to be thankful for.
My hunger and thirst, which remind me daily that many people don't get turkey and stuffing this week.
My luck, which so far has been good, or if it has been bad I haven't noticed too much.
Ephemera, like chapstick, hot showers, peppermint tea, cold water, cell phones, my inhaler, running shoes, sunsets, koalas, pirates, live music concerts, photographs, 24-hour pharmacies, America, trains, chilly nights, warm sheets, cheese, windows, warm sunbeams, boats, the ocean, having everything you need within arms reach at your desk, funny movies, violins, sushi, bulldogs, etc etc.
I thought it would be fun to do a Thanksgiving meme. Instead of "Suzanne needs..." I am doing "Give thanks for..." Not really something you can repeat, since I'm doing it and it doesn't include my name, but here goes:
Give thanks for....
-What has been saved
-Donovan
-Real Food
-The balloon
-Small victories
-Immigrants
-Dental health
-Lower gas prices
-This day and these people
-An early winter
-The earth and its creatures
-Drawbridges raised
-A place to park
-Time off and gifts
-An everlasting life
-What you have now
-A love that endures
-Good wine
Worked out pretty well! There were a lot of pages; I'm sure I could go on but I'll leave the rest for you memers and bloggers and the like. But now I have to make a pie. Or as Pedro says "I dunno. Build her a cake, or something." I'm thankful for that movie, too. Its a fave.
Happy Thanksgiving Blogosphere.
