I can't do anything right

I tried burning a CD on my CD burner, which was installed two years ago by two friends of mine who are both in the IT profession. For whatever reason, I never burned a CD. Now, I wanted to, and found I couldn't. So, I did pretty much everything I could do to get it to work. Turns out Sony doesn't make my model anymore, it ruined about 15 blank CDs that are now shiny coasters, and it frustrated me to the point of tears. I was up until after midnight last night trying to get the damn thing to work, but having no luck. I gave up and figured the burner was broken and bought another one today.

I installed it fine, installed the software fine, and still it won't work. I'm beyond disappointed right now, just so frustrated because I want this thing to work. And it won't. And I can't fix it. I am feeling imcompetent, frustrated, lonely, and pissed off. And this whole post was just to vent about that.
